FAQs
What is the typical timeline for a custom suit?
Our standard turnaround time is 4 weeks, but RUSH orders are available when a suit is needed in 2-3 weeks. Schedule now to ensure we can meet your deadline.
What fabrics are best for summer custom suits?
Linen is the ideal fabric for summer suiting. It’s extremely lightweight and durable. And it gets stronger and softer the more you wear it. However, it is a wrinkly fabric and that can turn some people off to it. While we love the look of a well-cut linen suit, we might suggest a wool/linen or wool/silk/linen blend in a light weight as an alternative for summer suiting that holds its shape better and is much less prone to wrinkling. What is the average price range of a good quality custom suit?
We will keep this as simple as possible. Our average and most typical range is $850-$1,250 including tax. This includes the jacket, pants, and all custom options. The fabric itself is the main factor in determining your cost.
How to choose the right size for ready to wear?
This one is easier than you may expect. Simply measure around the widest part of your chest with your arms relaxed at your side. Standard suit sizing is done in even numbers. So if your chest measures 41 for example, we recommend starting with a size 42 off the rack. Because every manufacturer cuts differently, though, it is best to take some time to try things on in person. Feel free to come by any time during our business hours to try on some suits with no obligation to buy.
How to choose high-quality custom suit fabric for business wear?
The world of fabrics is vast, but for suiting, the best place to start for high-quality, durable suit fabrics would be wool. Specifically, worsted wools with a super number of 110-150. A super number indicates to the buyer how fine the yarns used in a suit fabric are. In the 110-150 range, you’re getting a soft but sturdy cloth. Something you can count on to hold up as you wear it day in and day out. Visit us today to learn more.
How to measure yourself accurately for a custom suit?
This one is a bit tricky. You can take a look at our measurement guide here to see how to take measurements in the most basic sense. However, when it comes to having something custom-made, every manufacturer measures slightly differently and also adds different amounts of fabric to the final suit based on your measurements.
So it’s very important to have someone measure you that actually knows how their tailor cuts and assembles a final garment. Click here to schedule an appointment to get measured.
Do you make custom suits for women?
Yes, we most certainly do! Our options for women’s custom suiting (and other custom clothing) are as limitless as our offerings for men. Schedule an appointment now to see what we can do for you!
Differences between ready to wear and made to measure suits?
Ready to wear is a term synonymous with “off the rack.” It simply means a suit that can be purchased same day and is ready to be worn aside from maybe a few minor alterations. These suits come in standard sizes and can’t be customized a whole lot.
Made to measure is a much more custom option that allows you to choose fabric, cut, style, and even small details such as buttons and lining to really make the suit unique to you. We take made to measure a step further and create a pattern unique to your body as well as offering more fabrics and custom options than you’ll find just about anywhere else. What is the average price range of a good quality ready to wear suit?
When you are looking for quality suits, 100% wool is typically the best place to start. A new wool suit should not cost less than about $600. It is possible to find 100% wool suits for less, but then what you’re sacrificing for that lower price is construction quality.
Our ready to wear wool suits are made at the highest standard (floating canvas made from wool and horse hair) and cost $699 (not inclusive of alterations). We also have synthetic options at $399.
